Insound now stocks Common Cloud releases.

Insound.com, a 10-year institution of the indie-rock community, now carries Common Cloud releases. The Small Cities EP, as well as the Venna EP and Prussia’s “Dear Emily, Best Wishes, Molly” (vinyl) are now available from their catalog, so go ahead and get ordering! Be sure to pad your order with some of Insound’s other fine offerings to save on shipping. I might suggest Human Highway - “Moody Motorcycle,” Grouper - “Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill,” or one of the “Insound 20” posters by Jason Munn. 100% of the proceeds of these prints will benefit 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging children’s creative and expository writing skills.

New releases, tour news, new websites (plural?), and more coming this fall!

Prussia help win Gold Medals!*

Michael Phelps listens to Prussia?
Still wondering what is on Michael Phelps’ iPod? We here at the Cloud are almost positive that it is the new Prussia record. How else could this guy swim that fast? We have seen how listening to Prussia can make people move, we just would have never guessed it would help bring home 8 gold medals. USA!

Speaking of gold medals, everyone who was responsible for putting on, showing up at or playing during the Prussia release show should have some hardware around their neck. It was a fantastic night and we couldn’t have imagined a better way to both release “Dear Emily…” and send Prussia off on the road in style. It was really on a level of its own, most likely due to the cake. (Thanks, Skye!)

If you haven’t already, be sure to pick up a copy for yourself and start your Olympic training routine on iTunes or from the Common Cloud One Stop Online Shop.

Keep your eyes fixed here for upcoming news about The Felix Culpa, The Small Cities and information about the Prussia Daytrotter sessions! Don’t forget to join the RSS feed for instant notification of updates!

Thanks for stopping by!

Prussia LP as cake!

PRUSSIA Album Released on Vinyl and iTunes!

They say if you love something, you should let it go. Well, right now we are in love with Prussia’s new record, “Dear Emily, Best Wishes, Molly” so it is time to make good on an old sayings and let it go. Today, we are proud and excited to officially release Prussia’s debut LP!

Pre-orders are being shipped. Local record stores are being stocked. iTunes is ready to give you instant music. And last but not least, the album release show is only a few days away- ready to celebrate things to come and give you the first chance to walk away from a show with “Dear Emily” in all of its 13" of glory (12" vinyl + 1" digital download card?).

As always, in order to avoid sounding like a crazed mother gushing over a finger-painting, we’ve brought some support of our excitement. Joining our “Dear Emily” parade is the ever-kind Ryan Allen over at Detour Magazine who had this to say:

“Thank God, then, for Detroit’s very own Prussia — a welcome breath of fresh air amongst a collection of boring, same-sounding bands content with ripping one another off…if you’ve got a hankering for something new, constructed without pretense (hell, without a real drum set anywhere, from what we can tell), with one foot firmly planted in the past, and one outstretched towards the future, then we recommend Prussia’s Dear Emily…as the soundtrack to your next late night excursion.”

Check it out in full at Detour-mag.com and mark your calendar, it’s about to get good:

Behind the Screens: The making of the Prussia LP jackets.

Day One: Screen it like you mean it.

Dear Friends,
Today we started the screening and production of the LP jackets for Prussia’s “Dear Emily, Best Wishes, Molly.” Join us over the next 4 days for an inside look at the process from start to finish.

This picture was taken right after I licked the mixing spatula, mistaking the ink for delicious butterscotch pudding. Swissmiss’d!

Brutus is such a well trained dog he actually places each finished print on the drying rack with his mouth. We usually overprint a few because sometimes he accidently eats them.

Brian inspects all prints for even the smallest of imperfections. This young print unfortunately didn’t make the cut. He will most likely end up as bedding in some hamsters cage. Hey, it’s the circle of life, kids…

After pulling a majority of the prints, Skye and Brutus take a well deserved break. Remember, it’s precious moments like this that go into every Prussia LP jacket we screen.

Day Two:

This went on for another 8 hours…

More excitement tomorrow,
Eric

We’re #11!

The CMJ Radio Top 200 Adds are in and guess who made the cut: The Small Cities! After a strong presence on Minnesota’s best radio station, The Current, the Cities’ sweet melodies are getting some love across the U.S. and showing up as the #11 most added record! Feel free to celebrate by hitting up your favorite stations’ website and requesting “Fargo” or by stepping into the iTunes store and treating yourself to a permanent copy of the countries #11 radio pleasure (it is less than $4!).

Also in SC News, The Minneapoliscast was kind enough to invite the Small Cities into their Podcast Lab for some talk about their EP and favorite bands, as well as a intimate acoustic record session. You can stream or download the podcast from Minneapoliscast.com and hear tracks from the self-titled EP as well as the brand new track “Laughter Song” in the warm embrace of acoustic guitars. It is not to be missed!
